Kokomai is an inspiring festival of workshops and music, visual arts, film, dance, theatre, culinary arts and literature for all.
Kokomai Creative Festival is a biennial event in the Wairarapa coveted by theatre-goers, art followers, music lovers, book worms and people young and old. It’s ten days of inspiring workshops and performances of music, visual arts, film, dance, theatre and culinary arts and literature.
Again proudly supported by Trust House, the 2015 Festival will take place at a wide range of venues all across the Wairarapa from October 16 – 25. A special performance by students from the New Zealand School of Dance will open the Festival on Friday, October 16. This year’s festival follows the success of the inaugural event in 2013 which saw over 5,000 people enjoy a range of national and international acts as well as quality events that showcased talented people within the Wairarapa.
Kokomai Festival Director Heidi Holbrook says the 2015 programme will again have wide appeal reflecting the Wairarapa’s vibrant and sophisticated community that support the arts. She says “we have some world-class national and international shows coming and exciting local events for the whole community. The aim is to provide a range of events which appeal to diverse interests and budgets and locations. It’s a Festival the entire region can get involved in.”
The Festival is governed by the Wairarapa Arts Festival Trust which has received grant funding from the Trust House Foundation as well as sponsorship from Trust House Ltd in support of Kokomai.
